What do you do with things you find in the trash?

100th Day

Image result for images of 100th day

The 100th day of school is just around the corner and we are slowly but steadily reaching our goal of 100 cereal boxes so keep sending them in. Our plan for the 100th day is to collaborate with 3 other second grade classes to host our own Davis School Olympics. We have fun activities planned which include an opening and closing ceremony. I was hoping that families could send in a white t-shirt for students to decorate at school. It can be a new t-shirt or an old one we can turn inside out. The students will prepare them prior to the 100th day, which is on February 9th, so please send the shirts in by February 7th. Thanks so much for your cooperation.

Valentine's Day

Heart, Love, Valentine'S Day, ...
Dear Families,

I would love to welcome all parents in on Wednesday, February 14th from 9:30-10:30 to participate in some Valentine’s Day crafts with your child.  This time, I will be organizing the crafts so please just come in and enjoy some time with your second grader.  I hope to see you then!

Winter Craft Day

The Jelly Donut Difference

After reading The Jelly Donut Difference by Maria Dismonday we thought of ways we can show kindness to our friends.  Read our ideas, and help us sprinkle kindness throughout Davis School!

Science Experiment!

In class we put on our scientist hats to ask a question about the world around us.  We wanted to know if washing our hands really kills germs, so we formed our hypothesis and put it to the test.  Stay tuned for our results!

How Many Seeds

We read the book How Many Seeds and decided to explore our own pumpkins and record our results.  Thank you to the families that sent in 3 different sized pumpkins.

The medium sized pumpkin had the most seeds!

Apple, Apples, Apples!

Last Friday, we studied Johnny Appleseed and then explored the parts of an apple.  Before we left for the weekend we left our "mark"  in the pod!
Check out the "star" in the middle of the core! Griffin and Elise had apples for snack so they donated their leftovers for science!

Leaving our "marks" in the pod!  Miss Lua, Ms. Shamon, and our class all stamped apple prints to create a beautiful apple tree in the yellow pod. Our class represents all the yellow apples.
